I guess I am too lazy to search for the thread....
perhaps it is not even worth my time...but if you think it is - just let me know.

i honestly don't think i've ever been this happy in my life.
of course, i've got bipolar ii so i might just be edging on a bout of hypomania but i'm good at taking my med so this could very well be genuine!
i'm so excited at the new look on life this has given me.
Hello,
That is interesting. You might find this guys little speech interesting. He has seven different youtube videos that you should check out.
He is an ex-JW who has an interesting viewpoint on things.
He talks about being agnostic versus being an atheist in this one.
Not sure what I am just yet.
All I know for sure is that the WT is a nasty little organization that needs to be shut down, and I need to get all the people I love - OUT of harms way which is OUTSIDE of the WT

i visited the site a number of years ago.
just returned.. i'm a former jw.
i disassociated myself in 1988 at the age of 18. my mother had divorced my non-believing father and hooked up with one of her jw pioneer sisters brothers and she ended up disfellowshipped.
Welcome to the board Happy Apostate.
I share your disdain for the organization as a whole, especially the leadership in Brooklyn.
I'd love to hear your story at some point.
Mine is an ongoing saga - as I am still "in", serving as an agent for real truth and battling the evil from the inside as an "apostate" elder.
Once again - WELCOME!

david splane will be giving the dedication talk for the new st-georges kingdom hall.
my parents were going to go but that got sidelined by a funeral happening at the same time.
my parents used to pioneer there with brother splane before he received the "heavenly calling" (i wonder if you can buy one of those in the hunting section at wal-mart, next to the duck calls?
marmot, do you know someone named Peter in Quebec?
Oh, and I'm with Lady Lee - I'll pass this time around.
oh man, 2 mormons were walking on my road as i was driving home from work, i stopped them, asked them firstly why in the world they were walking on a dirt road in their suits where the houses are hundreds of yards apart, and then to come back to my house.
wow, it was so interesting to see the hundreds of mormon articles i've been reading in prep for talking to the jw (who had to cancel on me to go on a trip, plus i'm kinda wary about talking to her now, as i know this will sound silly, but her mom and fam stopped by the coffee shop, and i know my boss the owner cannot afford the loss of customers...who knows how many of them are witlesses!
anyways, one was from utah, one from texas....the parroting and the language that was so present in those articles was dumbly flung at me willy nilly in adverse to my arguments.
I agree that the LDS members can be just as deluded as JWs, but I have to give their church one bit of credit. . .as well as the membership overall. They do not quash questioning to the extent that the JWs do. Yesterday at their LDS thrift store, Deseret Industries, I came across a book about LDS websites. It did NOT discourage research. It was strong on apologetic sites, but was not shy about directing them to opposing sites. The supportive websites addressed the questions of Xtians and opposers. So, I would not say that LDS folks are really any more deluded than any other religion. They pick and choose what they will choose to believe. There is no culture that tells them that questioning is evil, there is no system in place that makes punishes those who question
.good comment JWDaughter....
after being raised as a jw, my dad was df'd for the 2nd time in 1994. that year he lost a wife, 3 children, mother and brother, as well as every friend he had made throughout his 40 years of life.
over the years my sister and i gradually started contacting him, but never had a real father/daughter relationship.
a few years ago, during my divorce, he and i sat down and started discussing his feelings.
Sweetface,
That was a great post. Your father sounds like a very wise and kind hearted man. You are lucky to have him as a father.
Please tell him how much we appreciate his kind words.
Sounds like that Toronto Apostafest was a great success. Perhaps one day I will attend one of these little gatherings.

i need a bit of help trying to explain to my wife that the god of the ot was not the same "god is love" of the nt.
she is coming around to the fact that the gb are not the fds however i keep getting the line that god loves everyone and always has.
i will be researching the ot to show her examples of where the god of the ot demanded killing and forced slavery etc.
great post Awakened07!
you make a lot of sense
The Oracle
i should introduce myself, since this is my first post.
i'm actually not an ex-jw, but rather someone who has just lost his faith in a different church, the mormon church.
i've long suspected that in terms of the organizational aspects of our two churches, how they hook you mentally, how they condition you, how they socialize you and make it very hard to leave, from an abstract level there's really not a dime's worth of difference.
And Greetings to you Brother Sethmo!
I absolutely love the mormon perspective on things.
Do watch Big Love? And if so - what do you think of it? I haven't seen it myself, but I hear that it also reflects a lot of JW culture.
Once again - WELCOME!!
